Death Calls: A Coroner’s Memoir, by Robert Crossland, Friesen Press, 2023, 132 pages.
I found this to be a very interesting read, particularly because it involves a lot of unsolved mysterious deaths that happened in the Powell River area. It brought back memories of people I knew who had died, some of which were horrific accidents, others from natural causes, and also the mysterious ones. Some of these deaths were individuals that the Coroner knew personally.
The duties of a Coroner were defined throughout the book and the strength and stamina of the Coroner requires an individual with very special qualities in order for them to be able to maintain their composure at all times.
I could not put this book down until I had finished it. Well worth the read.
